Staying Connected with Teachers
Celebrating the 100th day of school at St Joseph's School Murray Bridge marks a joyful milestone for our Reception children. It's a special occasion where we celebrate their journey of learning and growth since the school year began. From making new friends to learning letters and numbers, each day has been filled with discovery and excitement. Through games, activities, and reflections, we honor their progress and accomplishments, fostering a love for learning that will continue to grow. This day is not just about numbers but about the wonderful memories and experiences that shape their educational journey.
The Year 4 students recently had an amazing overnight camp at AFL Max. The camp focused on promoting well-being and teamwork with the theme "Healthy Body, Healthy Food, Healthy Minds, Healthy Team." The kids enjoyed rock climbing, football skills, team-building activities, learning about healthy food choices, and bouncing on trampolines, which ensured everyone found something they loved.
The camp was organised into a '4 Quarter Model,' just like a footy game, making it easy and fun for the kids to understand and engage with these important life skills. They got to improve their fitness, learn about developing a growth mindset, and the importance of keeping positive when things get challenging. Team-building activities helped them work together and strengthen friendships across the year level in a supportive environment. At the end of day one, the students enjoyed a movie on the big stadium screen. Both students and staff had a fantastic time. This adventure at AFL Max was a blend of fun, learning, and laughter, making it a truly memorable experience for all.
This term we celebrate Book Week in Week 5. There will be many fun-filled activities throughout the week including a Book Treasure Hunt, Matching Teachers to their favourite Books, Buddy Activities & Reading, Grandparents (and Special Friends) Day, Celebrity Guest Readers and of course the Book Week Parade on the Friday.
We are also lucky to have Author/Illustrator Martin Chatterton visit our school for an exciting and engaging presentation for all students on Friday 9th August (Week 3), as well as a Book Week Performance called ‘Maybe a Miracle’ for Reception to Year 4 students run by Perform Education on Monday 12th August (Week4).
Don’t forget to start thinking about your child’s Book Week dress up costume for Friday 23rd August. Students can come dressed up in any book or book character or even something to do with this year’s theme ‘Reading is Magic’.
